“Indoor Environmental Impacts of Wildland-Urban Interface Fires: Prevention, Response, and Recovery”
What will we discuss:
- Wildland-urban interface (WUI) fires, and how they might directly or indirectly impact your building.
- Steps that can be taken to reduce the direct impact of WUI fires.
- Steps that can be taken to reduce the indirect impact of WUI fire smoke, whether you plan to shelter in place or vacate the premises.
- Steps you can take to prepare to reoccupy of your vacated facilities.
- The history of wildland-urban interface fire residue testing.
- The difference between structure fires, wildland fires, wildland-urban interface fires, urban fires, and specialty fires (like Lithium-Ion Battery Fires).
- Recent Eaton and Palisades are Urban fires with over 16,280 structured burned, and why it matters.
- The negative “Ash is Cash” (a term I coined) money grab mentality, and its similarity to “Mold is Gold”
- The difference between impacted and damaged. The difference between detectable and dangerous. Lack of baselines and the complexity it creates.
- Understanding the WHY before you execute an assessment. Asking the client to ask you the specific question they want/need answered.
