NorCal Board of Directors
Wendy Johnson
Wendy Johnson is the President of the Northern California EIA Chapter, serving in the role since 2025, and the Director of Benchmark Environmental, a Division of FACS, where she oversees the Benchmark Environmental brand throughout Northern and Southern California.
Wendy entered the environmental industry in 1989 and founded Benchmark Environmental in 1994, leading the company until its merger with FACS in January 2025. She joined the Northern California EIA Board after Mike Van Brunt asked her to help launch the chapter.
When she's not working, you'll usually find Wendy outdoors. Whether she's scuba diving, mountain biking, downhill skiing, touring on the back of a BMW motorcycle, or riding through the desert in a Can-Am, she's always up for her next adventure. She also loves traveling, spending time with her husband, three daughters, and five grandchildren, and is currently writing a book on whole-food nutrition while renewing her fitness instructor credentials.
Wendy says she feels fortunate to be part of an industry where her work makes a difference in the lives of both clients and employees.
And the NorCal EIA is also fortunate to have you as our president! Thank you, Wendy, for your dedication to the growth of our chapter.
Priscilla Parra
Priscilla Parra is an owner of Parra Environmental Training (PET) and serves as President-Elect of the Northern California EIA Chapter. She oversees the day-to-day operations of her family's business, working alongside her husband, father-in-law, and administrative team.
Her career path has included dentistry, business consulting, marketing, event planning, and now entrepreneurship. The skills she developed helping businesses improve operations ultimately led to PET managing FACS Training in 2023, which is when she began attending NorCal EIA events.
Priscilla joined the NorCal EIA Board after becoming an EIA member and recognizing the importance of being involved in the environmental industry. She also appreciated seeing Wendy Johnson volunteer her time as the only woman on the board, which motivated her to contribute her own talents to help the chapter grow.
Outside of PET, Priscilla is building Ambitious AF Brands, hosts The Ambitious AF Podcast, is one of the founders of the Contra Costa County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce relaunch, enjoys tackling projects around the house, recently began martial arts and self-defense training with the goal of teaching, and is practicing with her bandmates to perform at local open mic nights and events.
Born in Los Angeles, she has called the East Bay home for more than 20 years. She and her husband have two adult children, one five-year-old Christmas baby, two tabby cats, and soon a new King Charles Cavalier will join the family.
Priscilla is our chapter social media manager and volunteered to create these spotlight posts for our board members. Thank you, Priscilla, for contributing to our chapter and taking the initiative to bring our ideas to life.
Michael Van Brunt
Mike Van Brunt is the founder of Van Brunt Associates, Inc. and a founding board member of the Northern California Chapter of the Environmental Information Association (EIA). He helped establish the chapter in 2018 after recognizing the need for a local presence of the EIA in California.
His career in the built environment began in 1974 when Mike was inspecting buildings as a fireman and has since spanned decades in building inspections, environmental consulting, project design, and remediation. Mike also spent 27 years teaching AHERA courses through UC Berkeley's Environmental Hazard Management program.
Outside of work, Mike is a longtime hockey player who once scored a hat trick as a defenseman, and an avid bowhunter.
Thank you, Mike, for establishing the NorCal EIA chapter. Our vast industry continues to stay informed about important topics through your and your fellow board members' efforts.
Mike is now a Legacy Board Member and continues to assist our chapter.
