Air quality in the healthcare environment has never been more important nor has there been more awareness about this issue than today. Mike is certified in the comprehensive practice of industrial hygiene and has been working in indoor quality for the past 33 years. He currently works for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta as an Infection Control Industrial Hygienist where he keeps children safe from hazards of the built environment.
Mr. Mount will present on reviewing the existing air quality standards in ORs in the US and in Europe, the different methods and techniques used to test surgical suites and the different air cleaning methods of achieving the air quality goal as required by regulatory bodies including ASHRAE.
Drugs in the Indoor Environment - A Contaminant of Serious Concern
Neil Whiticar - Property Decon Pros LLC
Mr. Whiticar has over 20 years of experience in the environmental field. His foundation started with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health from East Tennessee State University. He worked for 15 years specializing in characterizing, profiling, and shipping hazardous and radioactive waste. Since 2004 he has maintained certification by the state of Tennessee as a Certified Methamphetamine Laboratory Specialist. He routinely samples buildings for meth, and then certifies the property fit for human re-occupancy. He is also IICRC certified and licensed in the state of Georgia for trauma cleanup, leading to experience in the cleanup of crime scenes and properly disposing of blood and bodily fluids in the state of Georgia. Mr. Whiticar works across the South East of the US decontaminating drug houses of contaminants such as methamphetamine and fentanyl, along with crime scene cleanups, murder/suicides, decomposed body cleanup, and hoarding.
This topic is more of concern today than ever with the increasing methamphetamine and fentanyl usage, the use and handling of drugs in the indoor environment has presented challenges when entering indoor environments. Introduction to the Environmental Information Association
Brent Kynoch - Environmental Information Association
Mr. Kynoch is the Managing Director of the Environmental Information Association, headquartered just outside of Washington, DC in Chevy Chase, MD. He has been the Managing Director of the Association since 1996, but previously had served EIA in other volunteer roles on the Board of Directors as an officer, and ultimately as the President of EIA in 1988 and 1989. EIA has spent 40 years at the forefront in providing its members with the information needed to remain knowledgeable, responsible and competitive in the environmental health and safety industry.
When Mr. Kynoch changes his hat to his “paying job,” he is the President of Kynoch Environmental Management, Inc., (KEM) an environmental engineering and industrial hygiene firm and he is CEO of Clearity Environmental – a firm specializing in moisture control and mold prevention during multi-family construction. Mr. Kynoch began his career in the environmental business in 1984, when he founded his first company, AAS Environmental, which was sold in 1999.
Mr. Kynoch is a graduate of Vanderbilt University, where he received a degree in mechanical engineering. He is called upon frequently as a speaker, as a writer and as an expert regarding environmental contaminants. He has testified before both the US House of Representatives and the US Senate regarding asbestos, and has written numerous articles on asbestos, lead and mold.
